Last Teen Year

Living your childhood was probably slow and really educational. But what happens when we hit the teens? Doesn't everyday seem to get shorter with each year you accumulate? Just realised that it was my last teen year... What happens when you're 19?

My Faith in Mankind is Restored...

Lightning flashed across the cloud-laden dark sky...
Water fell onto our land as if a divine vessel had overturned...

Ok ok... so it rained...
I'm a little dramatic mainly because I've got all this pent-up energy in me and there is no one to release it upon (manifested as corny / totally lame jokes).

I was in town, getting a new phone (a smashing new N 6280 in ORANGE!) and feeling really happy about it because my previous phone had died on me, when it started to rain...

Mom and Evonne (a family friend) were with me and sadly, we only had 1 umbrella.
It was those fold-into-nothing sorts that are rather useless against anything with a force stronger than Dog Pee...

In any case, they felt that it was not worth taking a cab to where the car was parked so we had to walk...

2 roads to cross...

Honestly, it might have looked sweet to some... 2 grown women trying to conform to the shape of a spike-edged umbrella...but to me... it looked plain hilarious!
I bet only the top of their heads remained dry...

Not having any form of shelter, I could only get soaked while trying to make it look as if it was intended...

Felt a little sad though... did Mommy not think of how cold and wet I would get?

I trudged on, head down, silently staring at the rain pattering on my sandaled feet...

Suddenly, the constant pattering of rain on my shoulders stopped...
A huge shadow overcame my own...

I looked up...

There was shelter over me!

A nice tall bloke with wavy blond hair and the violet-blue eyes was standing with his umbrella over me.

The best part of it all was his warm smile.

He sheltered me all the way to Hotel Phoenix before giving me a pat on the back (his response to my "Oh gosh... Thank you very much..."), flashing his smile again, then leaving, walking towards where we came from...

There are nice people in this world... those who make the effort to restore that lost faith in our graciousness... those who inspire goodness in the rest of us... and finally, those whose littlest actions show that...

You matter.
